Protruck News Release
Protruck Takes the Long Way
From Vegas To Reno

BITD - Las Vegas, NV
August 20th thru 22, 2009

Best In The Desert's Vegas to Reno event titled the "The Long Way", a 1000 mile off road race from Vegas to Reno, that would take the Baja Protrucks through some of the toughest desert terrain imaginable. The race would be held over a 3-day period with mandatory rest stops each day that would include a 1-hour time period for you to work on your truck before it had to be impounded for the night.

After day one, Ryan Staats #1220 Air Force One Ford would put himself in the first position with a time of 6:56:25. Followed by Dave Mason's #1265 Western Motorsports Ford in second by only a 6 minute margin. Rounding out the top three was Troy Vest in the #1242 Pacific Truck Performance Chevy.

Day two would see Ryan Staats once again finishing in the front followed by Troy Vest in second and Aaron Guthrie (Current Baja Protruck Points Leader) in the #1232 Precision Pools Ford in third.

The final day would decide who would come home with the Vegas to Reno Baja Protruck win. With Ryan Staats having a small lead coming into the final day, all he and his team needed to do was be consistent and have little down time. Troy Vest, Dave Mason and Aaron Guthrie had the Staats team well in their sites at the start of day three. Staats and Vest would battle much of the day but it would be Troy Vest who would have the best time on day three with Staats coming in second for the day followed by Dave Mason then Aaron Guthrie. But in the end once each days accumulated times were added up Ryan Staats would take the overall 2009 Best In The Desert "Vegas to Reno" event win with a total time of 20:37:02.648. Coming in second with a total time of 21:01:47.898 would be Troy Vest. Rounding out the top three would be Aaron Guthrie with a total time of 22:44:06.101.

Vegas to Reno final results:
  1. Ryan Staats
  2. Troy Vest
  3. Aaron Guthrie
  4. Dave Mason
  5. Rob Reinertson
  6. Rob Clouser
