Protruck News Release
Protruck - Too Wet For Racing
Glen Helen Raceway
December 12, 2009

The final race of the season that would determine the Baja Protruck Championshipb> would turn out to be one of the wettest event's on record for the Baja Protruck Series. Going into this race points leader Aaron Guthrie needed to win the last event or finish only one position behind Rob Reinertson whom sat in the 2nd place position in the championship race. In order for Reinertson to take the championship he needed to finish at least two positions in front of Guthrie.

Practice for the event was scheduled for 7am-9am on Saturday morning. Severe weather conditions Friday evening changed the time from a 7am practice to a 9am practice. The weather was relentless Friday evening. Glen Helen's crews were trying to groom the track for practice during the wee hours of the morning Saturday, but the rain continued to reek havoc on the track. While the teams made their last minute preparations for the race 9am came around and practice was put off until further notice pending weather conditions. While the track crews continued to try and muster some kind of track, test vehicles were sent out on course to try and navigate the rain drenched track. Around 11:30am track officials determined that the race could not go on.

Due to no points being available for Glen Helen Protruck needed to look at the drivers other races for a replacement for their sixth race to add to their final points total for the year. Calculating Guthrie's best 6 finishes of the year he would have a points total of 762. Then calculating Reinertson's best 6 races of the year he would have 763. That would make Rob Reinertson the 2009 Baja Protruck Champion by only one point. Congratulations go's out to Rob Reinertson and his entire team. Second place go's to Aaron Guthrie, Third place went to Troy Vest and rounding out the top 4 is Dave Mason.

Congratulations to all the teams on a great season.

The first event on the 2010 Baja Protruck Schedule is the Best In The Desert Parker 425 February 5-7.
